Meet Hiroshi from Japan
So, what made you want to come to England to study English?
First, I wanted to study the School which has few Japanese Students so that I could speak English rather than Japanese. In Japan, the USA and Canada are very famous for studying abroad. Second, the UK’s tradition and long history are interesting for me. Moreover, I have an academic image in the UK like Oxford and Cambridge.
Was England as you expected?
It was better than I expected. Before I came here, I was a little nervous, but I didn’t have to worry about anything. Christchurch was very beautiful and calm. It was a good environment to study English. It was also safer and English people were kinder than I expected. It made me want to stay longer.
How was your experience of living with an English family?
My host family was very kind. They sometimes introduced me to their friends and their families. They also took me to the cinema together. I was glad to see them and stay together.
What’s the most memorable moment of your time here in England?
It is still hard to speak English, but there were some times when I could make myself understood in English. At those times, I could feel I was making progress in studying English, they were very memorable. Of course, trips of the school were also very nice.
Is there anything you’d like to warn other students who are thinking of coming to England about?
I think studying English in a famous City like London is not always good. In London, there are a lot of attractive places but it is too busy and anything is too expensive to stay for many weeks. I’ll recommend studying in countryside.
