Pastoral Care

rounded-chris-120h“I am Celc’s Welfare Officer. I will do all I can to ensure that you are happy and safe during your course.

We are a small school and that means that we are able to get to know all our students. We think that Celc has the feel of a loving family. We certainly do all we can help you feel welcome, valued and at home.

You can approach Chris or any one of the Celc team if you have a difficulty or need some help. That could range from hearing some sad news from home, to being upset by something that has just happened to you, to  needing help printing a boarding pass or buying a bicycle. Just come and talk or ask.

All our teachers play a part in leading activities & excursions. This gives the opportunity for them to get to know you and for you to get to know them. We do not ask tour companies to organise anything for us; we do it all ourselves. We hope that this will help you feel happy and safe.

We also have more formal ways of checking that you are okay:

  • Your first week tutorial will ask you how you feeling about your homestay, whether you feel safe and happy, whether you plan to get involved in activities & excursions, as well as things to do with your learning and your class.
    > Download a Sample First Week Junior Tutorial Form
  • All students have regular tutorials and we take those opportunities to ask you how you are feeling about various things.
  • You will have two teachers each morning. The teacher that takes your first class will become a little bit like a ‘tutor’ to you. They will get to know you and you can chat to them about anything that you are finding difficult or just ask advice.
  • You will be asked to complete an End of First Week feedback form. If you are staying more than two or three weeks you will also be asked to complete a Mid or End of Course feedback form. We would encourage you to let us know on those forms if you are having difficulties or need help.

If you are under the age of 18yrs, we will take a real and active interest in how you are doing.

We really want you to be happy and safe and will offer help if you need it!
