Supervision of U18s

We take our responsibility to our younger students very seriously. We are committed to ensuring that your time at Celc is happy and safe as well as of real benefit as you improve your English and enjoy our culture and heritage.

If you are under 18 years of age, you are considered to be a ‘Junior’. We make special provision and ensure that we have done everything that we can to ensure that you are happy and safe. Your teachers, other staff at Celc and your hosts will always be willing to offer advice and support you.

It is important that you and your parents or guardian are aware that although you will spend most of your time in class, on an organised Celc activity, excursion or Social Club event, or in your homestay and with your hosts, there will be occasions when no official activity or event is organised. This will mean that you will be unsupervised. You may choose to spend this time on your own or with friends. Christchurch is a very safe area and there are many things to do. You will need to take responsibility for your time and your actions.

We only offer places to students under the age of 16 years if they are:
. Part of a led group. In this case the group leader takes responsibility for the student during any free time.
. On a special programme and accompanied by their parents for the whole of the programme. The parent takes responsibility during any free time.
. Aged 13-16 years and attending our Summer School, located on the edge of the New Forest just 2.5 miles from Christchurch. They do not need to be part of a led group or accompanied by their parents, as the programme is fully-residential and supervised.
